NOTICE

Water Rationing

 

Beginning June 18, 2026 thru September 30, 2026 the City Council approved issuing a Stage A water rationing. 

All residents will be permitted to water daily except from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

No person shall use any water sprinkler, sprinkling or perforated hose to water any lawn, garden, shrub, tree or flower between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

These restriction shall apply to all residences and to all businesses and institutions having lawns, gardens, trees or shrubs, and shall be followed at all parks and public buildings owned by the City of Lacon.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this ordinance  shall be fined not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) upon a first conviction of this ordinance and not less than Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($750.00) for each subsequent offense.

2025 CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

The City of Lacon has available upon request this year’s Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). The CCR includes basic information on the sources of your drinking water, the levels of any contaminants that were detected in the water during 2025, and compliance with other drinking water rules, as well as some educational materials. 2026 GOLF CART PERMIT

REMINDER TO RENEW YOUR 2026 GOLF CART PERMIT

Sticker renewal is $25 if purchased before April 30th. May 1st the cost will be $35.

Penalty for not having a current sticker is $75

Please provide proof of current insurance.

City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. OR put in the mail slot on the west side of City Hall by the Police Department door and we will mail you a permit.

If you have a new golf cart that needs to be inspected, please call 246-6111 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and we can set up an appointment to have it inspected by the Chief of Police.

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND BE 18 YEARS OLD TO OPERATE A GOLF CART IN THE CITY.

CITY OF LACON ORDINANCE ON BURNING

City of Lacon Ordinance on Burning

·     No open burning of any refuse with the exception of landscape waste within the city.

·     Burning of landscape waste shall be limited to that which is generated on the premises.

·     Open burning of landscape waste must be controlled to prevent smoke or offensive odors.

·     All burning of landscape waste shall be constantly attended, and shall be completely extinguished before leaving the fire.

·     No burning of landscape waste after sunset.

·     No burning on Halloween or on national holidays.

·     No burning on city streets, alleys or sidewalks.

 

Any person convicted of shall be guilty of a petty offense and shall be fined not less than $250 nor more than $750 for each offense, and each day of violation occurs or is allowed to remain constitutes and shall be deemed a separate offense.
